I played the Delta DB5-5 all night on the gig and was very satisfied with the performance and sound quality that was produced by the bass. I must admit, I had a hard time putting this bass down, and if the band didn’t want to take breaks, I wouldn’t have put it down. I did my thorough testing of putting it through all the paces at home, then took it out on gigs with a few different bands that I play with. The action was low which is to my liking and any fret buzz was completely absent. When I received the bass, it was setup perfectly from the factory and ready to go. The battery compartment is very easily accessible which makes battery replacement quick and easy. There is an active preamp that requires one 9-volt battery. The pickups are Duncan Design by Seymour Duncan and the controls for the pickups are volume, blend, bass, and treble. The bridge on the DB5-5 consists of a separate saddle for each string, which makes for great individual string adjustment based on your preference. The neck is comparatively thin which makes it what I call a “fast neck”, easy to maneuver and also being able to reach all positions of the neck without any hassle.

Speaking of the neck, the cutaway allows full access clear up to the 24th fret even to the B string. Rich sustain is accomplished with the five piece neck through body which features a maple neck with rosewood fingerboard and a 34″ scale.ĭot inlays are present on the fingerboard and offset from the center with the main dots positioned between the B and E strings and the 12th and 24th fret dots positioned between the A and E strings as well. The choice of woods for this bass presented a warm rich tone that will appeal to bassists of all genres.
